Proper care can extend the life of your fresh flowers by several days. Follow these simple steps to get the most out of your Bloomerang Floral arrangement.
Unpack Immediately
Remove flowers from packaging as soon as they arrive. Cut any ties or bands gently.
Trim the Stems
Using sharp scissors or floral shears, cut 1-2 inches off each stem at a 45-degree angle. This increases the surface area for water absorption.
Clean the Vase
Use a clean vase filled with room-temperature water. Add the flower food packet included with your delivery.
Remove Lower Leaves
Strip any leaves that will sit below the waterline. Submerged foliage promotes bacterial growth and shortens flower life.
Find the Right Spot
Place flowers in a cool area away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and fruit bowls (fruit releases ethylene gas which wilts flowers).
Change Water Every 2 Days
Replace the water and re-trim stems every 2 days. This is the single most effective way to extend the life of your arrangement.
Pro Tips from Our Designers
- Add a few drops of bleach to the water to prevent bacterial growth
- Avoid placing flowers near ripening fruit — ethylene gas speeds wilting
- Mist delicate blooms like hydrangea with a spray bottle
- Keep arrangements away from air conditioning vents and direct sunlight
- Remove wilted flowers promptly to prevent them from affecting fresh ones
Flower-Specific Care
Roses: Cut stems under running water. Roses drink a lot, so check water daily. Lilies: Remove pollen stamens to prevent staining. Tulips: These keep growing in the vase! Trim as needed. Sunflowers: Heavy drinkers — keep the vase topped up.
